| Bio: |  Name: Laura Antoinette Madley Age: 24 History: Bloodline: Half-blood Family: It is not obvious to most that Laura has a lot of French blood in her veins. Of course, she hardly tells others about her strange and out of place middle name because that means explaining father and father isn’t really someone she can explain without getting annoyed and flustered herself. She wasn’t supposed to be and this is what has irked her most about her parents: that they were so casual about letting her know this little tid bit. Father, a half-blood French Wizard named Jacques Pascal, met mother, Linda Madley and a half-blood English Witch, when mother worked for the English Magical Ministry and father worked for the French Magical Ministry, both as foreign diplomats. They met various times in their adult lives and with the fifth meeting came undeniable chemistry that left Linda Madley pregnant. Jacques was not eager to settle down, but he was quite overjoyed to be a father. Linda never managed to get the man to marry her but he did promise to support the child and be there as a father. He was a royal jerk. Laura was born and he missed it. Laura turned one, and he missed it. Laura got her letter to Hogwarts, and he missed it. Sure he sent her and her mother money, but the visits were few and far in-between and he had since settled down with a French witch and had his own real family. Laura’s only real connection to him is her blood and her middle name, the name of her French grandmother. Childhood: Laura grew up in the Wizarding world post Dark Lord, when all the magical babies were being told stories of the famous Harry Potter. She wasn’t impressed. Maybe this was because Laura had trouble sitting still long enough to hear these stories and was often running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off. To say she was a hyper child was an understatement, and often, when her father visited, he got an ear full about not being there and being the reason why Laura was so... well.. mad. She took to the outdoors immediately and was all at once swept up in the joys of gardening and care of magical creatures. More often than not, Laura helped her mother keep a wondrous garden and when muggle and when magical creatures were found to be messing about the garden, Laura took it upon herself to tame the ones that would allow it and even some that normally wouldn’t. What Laura can honestly say she remembers most about her childhood is laughing a lot and her mother screaming about a toad or baby snake Laura had found. Education: Laura’s mother was a Hufflepuff and so she grew up with the intentions of getting into the same house to please her mother. “Not like I care, dear,” said mother, though she was a bit weary of Slytherin. Who wasn’t? And Laura knew that Slytherins were just too mean, why, most of those nasty, hooded Death eaters were Slytherins! She could’ve easily been placed in Gryffindor for the audacious and bold as brass behavior she had going for her, and she had quite the sharp tongue like a Ravenclaw, but she was dying to be loyal to her mother and thus, Hufflepuff was the house for her. She was three years after Harry Potter so, while a lot of her fellow housemates were quite terrified over the whole Sirius Black thing, Laura was absolutely enthralled with the story and would often confess how exciting it would be to see the famous supposed Death Eater. “You’re mad!” said some, and she would always agree, after all, she was Madley, and then she’d laugh and laugh... but then, the night of Ron Weasley being “attacked” by Sirius, she at he words and became terribly frightened like the rest of her lot. This was the usual for Laura. One minute she’d be very excited about scary things and she’d claim she wasn’t scared.. the next she’d be jumping out of her boots out of fear and hiding behind someone. Her behavior was always erratic at best, which led her to many detentions with various teachers for being more out of hand in the classrooms than the Weasley Twins. Her hyperactive manners were just too much! So, Dumbledore and Snape both discussed with Miss Madley the possibility of Laura needing to take daily potions to keep her self concentrated and focused in class. Miss Madley quickly agreed to this and related many stories of Laura’s maddening ways as a child. From her second year on until she was seventeen Laura had to take a vile of calming potions each morning with breakfast. Of course, during the year of the last battle against the risen Dark Lord, this routine was interrupted briefly when she took refuge with D.A. members in the Room of Requirement. It was really only three days before the others noticed how twitchy and stir crazy Laura was going. The Room provided the proper tools for making her potions, but not the ingredients so, Laura took it upon herself to sneak the stuff from Slughorn’s stores, but the Professor caught her. Kind as he was, he didn’t even ask where she or the others had been, he simply found the proper ingredients for her and made sure she had enough for a long while to make it on her own. That kindness had always sat well with Laura, who to this day sends Slughorn a Christmas gift every holiday. When school return to normal, Laura began paying particular attention to her Potions class and ended up making one of the highest (not higher than Granger, of course!) grades within the class. She had found a passion in the art of potion making and with that and being quite good with Charms, Herbology and Transfiguration, she decided to go into apprenticeship at St. Mungos to be a healer. She’s now one the regular Healer apprentices in St. Mungos, known for making an excellent batch of pepper up potion and one of the first witches to manage to give Skele-grow a flavor that doesn’t have a Wizard spitting it up right away. Personality: Laura, as stated previously, without any potions in her, is incredibly hyperactive. She has a hard time concentrating on her work, can’t seem to multi-task, and tends to be very forgetful. She’ll talk too fast, fumble over words, write so fast that her words will look almost undecipherable, and she’ll be too erratic to sit still so she’ll fidget and twitch or pace madly. On the potions, though, she is as mundane and normal as any other witch. In fact, she grows very quiet and serious and most assume she isn’t a very wild witch at all... but really, that’s just the effect of the calming drought so that she can concentrate when she works. There are times when she takes not enough and can be a mixture of both, somewhat twitchy but able to at least do her job. Or if she takes too much she can seem almost high and too off her rocker to do anything at all. She has formed a habit out of taking them regularly, though, so she doesn’t normally have much issues with them... but she has had her moments when she’s run out for a day and gotten a bit loopy or made it wrong somehow and gotten loopy that way. Generally, Laura is a pretty funny girl and loves to make people feel better. This was obvious during school as she excelled at cheering charms and was always eager to make a sad student happy with a lame joke. At St. Mungos she takes it upon herself to visit patients with a smile on her lips and tries not to be too serious if she can, just so they don’t feel so depressed about being in the hospital. She can get very angry when talking about her father, or about anything that tends to bother her, like if a Quidditch team she hates is doing well or if someone that has made her mad is having a grand ol’ time for whatever reason. It is possible that an increase in temper is a side effect of the Calming Drought at times, but this has not been proven to be true. She still likes to blame it for her occasional flairs of temper, but most people don’t believe it and if they knew her blood they’d just blame it on her being part French.
